Donald Trump threatens to use US military to deport undocumented immigrants

Donald Trump has threatened to deploy US military forces to remove undocumented immigrants from the country.

The US President claimed his administration’s efforts to remove “bad dudes”, including “gang members”and “drug lords”, was a military operation to reduce crime, despite little evidence indicating undocumented immigrants are disproportionately responsible.

“You see what’s happening at the border, all of the sudden for the first time, we’re getting gang members out, we’re getting drug lords out, we’re getting really bad dudes out of this country,” Mr Trump said.
And at a rate that nobody’s ever seen before, and they’re the bad ones, and it’s a military operation because that has been allowed to come into our country. And you see gang violence that you’ve read about like never before, all of the things, much of that is people that are here illegally. And they’re rough and they’re tough but they’re not tough like our people.”
However, despite the US President's incendiary claims, security chief John Kelly said there would be "no use of military force in immigration operations.” Press secretary Sean Spicer also issued a denial after the meeting, claiming Mr Trump’s use of the word “military” was as an adjective to highlight the precision used in the deportation operations.

His comments came as Mexico’s foreign minister expressed "worry and irritation" about US policies at a meeting in Mexico City with Mr Kelly and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
Luis Videgaray said it was a "complex time" for US-Mexico relations, which have gone downhill quickly since Mr Trump was elected president last November.
Relations were put under further strain this week when the US said it would seek to deport many illegal immigrants to Mexico if they entered the country from the southern border, regardless of their nationality.
The immigration guidelines are the latest point of tension between neighbours that have also been at odds over Mr Trump's vow to build a wall on the border and his attempts to browbeat Mexico into giving concessions on trade.

Mr Kelly and Mr Tillerson were much more measured in their words than either the Mexicans or Mr Trump. Mr Kelly, who Mr Trump praised as being “unbelievable at the border” denied the military claim and insisted there would be "no, repeat, no" mass deportations.

None of the officials made direct references to the deportation of immigrants from third countries to Mexico, or to paying for the border wall planned by Mr Trump, a red-flag issue for Mexico.

Facebook’s temporary profile picture frames are now available for more and more sports teams, causes and events, but did you know that there is actually a list?
Co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg provided this link in a Facebook post (embedded below), where users can access a pull-down menu that provides them with all of the available options for temporary profile picture frames.

The page shows all available profile frames from across Facebook, including those from charities like WWF, sports events and movies in once place.

The new picker lets you choose your photo, then provides a drop-down of all possible frames across the service for the first time.

Meanwhile, the feature does lead to several questions. In his recent 5,000 word manifesto, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg talked about the urgent need to create a global community and create a social infrastructure for its users. Launching national flags, while harmless, doesn’t seem to be the best way to promote inclusiveness and the idea of global community as it will give people just another way to differentiate themselves from people sporting different flags on their profile pictures.

With that said, Facebook has still played a massive role in bringing inclusiveness to the world. We see Indians interacting with Americans, Japanese interacting with Canadians and so on and so forth. That is an incredible achievement on the social media platform’s part. And it is still a business, so we can not expect all of its moves to be directed by its founder’s personal philosophy, no matter how noble and good they may be. That is something that needs to be borne in mind before judging Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg, is situations where the two appear to be at variance.

YouTube Finally Announces New Feature We’ve Always Wanted

You know when you just want to show someone a specific part of a fight on Youtube, or rewind and replay the same part of a dance video so you can practice the moves (just me?)?

Then because the small red slider at the bottom of the screen is too bloody fiddly, you end up clicking the next song button and throw your phone at a wall?
Well, the video sharing site have found a solution to this problem with their new double tap feature which allows you to skip forward or backwards by ten seconds just by tapping the right or left side of your screen, Mashable reports.
The Quick Seek function also lets you skip 20 or 30 seconds with a triple or quadruple tap, but that’s a skill to master in itself.

It just takes a little look at everyone on your morning commute to see we’re in a mobile phone addiction epidemic, so Youtube are really trying to adapt their desktop-savvy website to be maneuvered by a finger instead of a mouse.
One feature that is particularly useful on desktop is that you can hover over the video slider and see stills of the video at any point.

First Details Of New Nokia 3310 Have Been Leaked

Many of us will remember the Nokia 3310 with fond memories and now it’s set to take us all back to the relatively internet-free times of the early 2000s, the Daily Mail reports.

The first details of the iconic phone have just been revealed and and it looks like our minimalist, stress-free life dreams are set to come true.
1402 Nokia 3310 First Details Of New Nokia 3310 Have Been Leaked
Chinese technology site Vtech leaked tit-bits of tantalising information online, including the fact it will not run android, but will be a ‘feature’ phone.
According to the site, the new version will be staying very close to the much-loved original, although it will apparently be slimmer and more light-weight this time.
Alongside the classic ‘black and white’ display, there will also be a colour version, although it will be low resolution to ensure the battery life stays high.
The new model will be revealed next week at Mobile World Congress and will come in a cheery variety of colours including red, green and yellow.
Nokia is believed to be releasing three other new handsets alongside the revamped 3310, with the cost of its re-launched version likely to be around £49.
The original 3310 gained an impressive reputation for its reliability, long-lasting battery and resilience, earning itself a loyal worldwide following and selling 100 million units.

Retro games such as Snake, create-your own-ringtones and changeable fascias and cases made the phone a long-term favourite among fans.
They’ve 100 per cent sold it to me.
There’s nothing quite like your first phone is there?
However, instead of the original  display, a monochrome 84 x 84 dispaly, there will be a new colour version, although it is not expected to be high resolution to keep battery life high.
The handset, expected to be unveiled at MWC next week,  will also come in multiple color variants including red, green, and yellow, it is claimed.
An update to the Nokia 3310 is thought to be one of a number of new models that will be announced at one of the world’s largest gatherings for the mobile industry.

The handset could bring a distinctly turn of the millennium flavour to proceedings at the Mobile World Congress (MWC).
Once the undisputed king of the mobile market, Nokia's fortunes took a turn for the worse after its decision to support the Windows mobile operating system exclusively.

5 things you didn't know your iPhone could do

You may be gazing at it constantly, but your iPhone still has a few surprises up its sleeve.
Yes, we're all aware of the camera, the clock and the calculator, but did you know your iPhone can also be a level? Well, it can.

Here are five surprising things you didn't know your iPhone could do.

1. Send self-destructing messages.

IMAGE: MASHABLE
You can set your audio and video messages to self-destruct after two minutes, or you can elect for them to be permanent. Just go to Settings > Messages and pick your preference.

2. Trying to hang shelves or art? Your iPhone has a level function.

Just go to the Compass and swipe left.

3. Check which apps are using the most battery.

IMAGE: MASHABLE
Go to Settings, then scroll down to Battery to see which of your apps is sucking up the most battery life. (Clearly, we need to chill on the Instagram.)

4. Mute annoying group threads.

IMAGE: MASHABLE
Not into the group barrage but don't have the heart to leave? Just head to the thread's "Details" section, then put the convo on "Do Not Disturb."

5. Take a creepy look at everywhere you've ever been.

To see an unnerving list of everywhere you've traveled in the past few months, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services. There is also an extremely specific map function, but we'd rather you not see that.

NASA discovered seven nearby planets that could support life

Pack your bags, everyone! NASA announced today it’s discovered seven new Earth-sized planets, at least three of which could potentially support life. And, they are relatively close by.

All of the planets orbit TRAPPIST-1, an ultra-cool dwarf star roughly the size of Jupiter. The system is close to Earth, relatively speaking – TRAPPIST is located in the Aquarius constellation, less than 40 light years from us.
The TRAPPIST-1 star & 7 Earth-sized planets orbiting it, are relatively close to us; located ~40 light-years away: http://go.nasa.gov/2lvVN7G

What makes these exoplanets special is they are temperate – meaning all seven could potentially have water. Three of the planets are in the habitable zone, making them the most likely candidates to support life.
The TRAPPIST system is named after the telescope in Chile with which researchers originally spotted the exoplanets. Their existence was recently confirmed with NASA’s Spitzer Telescope.
So far, all we know about our potential new homes is they are likely to be rocky. They are all also closer to their star than Mercury is to our Sun, but the star is so cool that the furthest of the seven is probably a ball of ice.

Instagram will now let you upload sets of up to 10 photos and videos

lmost two years ago, Instagram introduced a sincerely useful feature to the app: the ability to upload multiple photos at once, letting your followers browse them by swiping on a carousel of images. It was an obvious solution to one of the Instagram feed’s most persistent problems — users who spam it with seven or eight photos at a time. Which made it all the more inexplicable that Instagram restricted photo carousels to its advertisers. The company said it might bring the feature to regular users eventually, but it made no promises.

Today, we’re finally getting the feature that advertisers have enjoyed for years. Instagram said on its blog that users will now be able to upload 10 photos and videos per post, telling more complete stories . “You no longer have to choose the single best photo or video from an experience you want to remember,” the company said. “Now, you can combine up to 10 photos and videos in one post and swipe through to see them all.”
The company suggested a variety of uses for the new format, from documenting each phase of a surprise birthday party to showing the steps for making a recipe. In that sense, the carousels can feel like a more permanent version of Instagram stories — complete narratives that live on your profile for as long as you like.
To create a carousel, you tap a new icon that mimics a photo stack. From there, you select the photos and videos you want to include. To change the order of the posts, you tap, hold, and drag. You can edit your photos and videos individually or as a group, but you only get one caption and location tag for your post. (Likes and comments are all grouped under the complete post, too.)
You’ll know you’re seeing a carousel in the feed when you see a blue ellipsis (...) at the bottom of the post. To see the rest, just start swiping. Carousels will roll out to all users on Android and iOS over the next few weeks, the company said.
